Below are the six steps to help you achieve your perfect melted cheese.
Step 1: Choose the right kind of cheese.
We prefer to use harder cheese. The melting point of harder cheeses is lower. These are the cheeses commonly used when making sauces, grilled cheese, and soup bases.
Step 2: Shred the Cheese
It would be best if you first shredded the cheese before melting it. Shredded cheese melts more quickly, simply, and evenly than a whole block of cheese because of its thin and equal shape.
Step 3: Place the shredded cheese on a non-stick pot or pan
Place the room temperature shredded cheese in a non-stick pot with enough area for the cheese to fit, allowing you to stir to make the sauce quickly. It is the best way to use a non-stick pan or skillet, such as ceramic or porcelain-enameled. These pans prevent the sticky strands of cheese from sticking to the pan and reduce the chances of burning your cheese. Not to mention how easy they are to clean.
Step 4: Use low heat temperature
Turn the heat to the lowest setting and place the nonstick pan with the shredded cheese on the stove.
When it comes to melting cheese for a sauce, the general rule is to use the lowest heat setting possible because high heat might cause the moisture and fat in the cheese to evaporate.
