I have high standards for ease of use.. I like my products to be intuitive enough that I don’t have to read through a whole instruction manual. With this GoWISE USA air fryer unit, you need to be patient.
You want to be careful loading and cooking food because the handle to open the unit is attached to the crisping tray. (As a note, the crisping tray is where the magic happens. The tray where you load your food to be air fried to perfection.).
In scouring the internet for an air fryer to use or gift, I see a handful of reviews were this feature got home cooks in trouble. Either they open the handle too fast causing grease and screaming hot food to fly onto their kitchen.. Or they jostle the handle to shake up the food and end up damaging their air fryer.
Next, there’s a slight issue with the temperature and timer settings if you change them mid-cook. This only pops up if you’re looking to go off-recipe and replicate your favorite meals in the air fryer. Trust me, if you want to cook it in an air fryer; a recipe exists online. A quick google can confirm temperatures and cook times from anything from asparagus to zucchini. And all the meat, seafood, and poultry in between.
However, it’s worth mentioning for you more adventurous home cooks!

Based on the ease of use, I do have to ding this unit for safety. While it is safe if used as intended.. You may be in such a rush to chow down you pull the handle to quickly and spill the grease from the unit! That makes the GoWISE USA air fryer unit not child friendly for kids who want to join you in the kitchen. (At least not those under 10 or so!)
Space – 4.5/5
In general, air fryers are girthy pieces of kitchen tech. Despite that, the GoWISE USA air fryer unit ranks high here because it has a small foot-print compared to other air fryers with super multi-tasking ability. Meaning, you can feed a family of 4 using this economically-sized unit in under an hour without a ton of “active cooking time”. You can set the time, the temperature, load in the food.. Take a nap.. And when it’s dinner time everyone gets to be full and impressed.
Cooking Capacity – 4/5
The GoWISE USA air fryer unit CAN fit enough food to feed 4. That’s why it does rank high in terms of cooking capacity. Practically, you’ll likely need to cook 2-3 components for a full dinner.
Not just french fries. Not just wings. Not just golden brown glazed brussel sprouts. (I’m starting to drool just typing this out!)
Anyways, you may need multiple rounds in the GoWISE USA air fryer unit to cook everything one after the other. Since other air fryers that are considerably larger can also have racks to cook multiple foods at once, I dinged the GoWISE air fryer unit here.
But, the GoWISE air fryer unit still gets high marks and will be ideal if you use it alongside other cooking techniques (like adding golden crispy fluffy french fries to the burgers you’re making for dinner).

Food comes out crispy, which is a win in my book. May take some tinkering to nail down the proper temp and timing though.
Crowding the GoWISE air fryer with too much food to cook or too much thick food will increase cook times and may cause your food to not be as crisp. But that’s true for frying, baking, roasting, and sauteeing as well in general.

Ironically, GoWISE USA airfryers are made in China! While the GoWISE USA company is based in America- and offers above-average performance for their pricing- they do outsource manufacturing to China.
Do you have to preheat a GoWISE USA air fryer?
Preheating is not required for most recipes. There are a few recipes that do benefit from preheating. Things like popcorn, cake, and so on. I also like to preheat my air fryer when cooking meats. I notice it gives a better sear!
Do you put oil in an air fryer?
Most recipes do not need oil! When you do use oils, it is substantially less than when cooking in the oven or stovetop. I prefer to use a non-stick spray to make sure my foods don’t, well, stick to the air fryer. If you prefer you can also use an oil mister.
Should You Invest In A GoWISE USA?
It depends! For a small family, couple, or bachelor/bachelorette I’d recommend this unit. Even more so if you LOVE crispy indulgent foods but don’t want the added fat that comes with fried foods.
